Pros
- Nov 12, 2007 Well it took a little bit longer then I was hoping to get these posted (what can I say, technical problems even hit large companies), but I am happy to announce we have Beta Leopard installers for the C3100, C4100, C4200, C5100, & C5200 Series HP All-in-Ones now online.
- Hp Photosmart C5100 Printer Driver Installation For Win and Mac OS Download the Hp Photosmart C5100 Printer Driver. After completing the download, insert the device into the computer and make sure that the cables and electrical connections are complete.
- Make sure your printer has a driver available: For a complete list of HP printers with drivers available through Apple Software Update, go to Printer and scanner software available for download for Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.8 (in English).
Printer and scanner drivers for Mac If you have an older printer that doesn't support driverless technology, your Mac might automatically install the driver software needed to use that device. Many printers and scanners use driverless technologies such as AirPrint or IPP Everywhere, which don't require additional drivers on your Mac.
I have had the Photo Smart for years. I came with an iMac I bought three computers ago, Like the iMac is was built like a brick shj*t house. I gave away the printers that they gave me when I bought new computers because this is the best. It just does the job consistently. Business letters to photos. No matter how hard you work it it comes back for more.
Cons
It has a problem with the new Mac operating system. Envelopes were always a problem. Now it's gotten worse, It refuses to print on anything but a 8.5 x 11 size paper. Yes I tried to let Word do the printing but nothing works. I don't even know if envelope software would work.
Summary
Great printer unless you want to print envelopes.

I picked up a 7960 and while installing the software it downloaded a newer version then this .. cool! The software and printer work excellent, though it takes a couple of minutes to think before printing. Might be something with my G4 setup and i'm not usually in a rush to get the print. My gripe is that my LaserJet 1200 stopped working. After playing for a while i finally figured out that i had to get rid of all my hp drivers then use the OSX disk 2 to restore the hp printer drivers. Now the LaserJet works, but i cannot use the Photosmart. So, i put the LaserJet on my wifes Mac (shared option on) and the Photosmart on my Mac (shared option on) .. now can use both printers again.
I am rating the driver software here, not the printer (which is excellent).

But when I print color photographs and look at them closely, they are very pixelated. I print the same photo from Photoshop using Jaguar on my iBook, and they look great. So the 2.05 drivers, while they allow printing, seems to lower the quality of the photos in Panther. I hope there is a workaround or new version of the driver soon!

Mechanically speaking, this makes my Photosmart 1115 do some really weird things. Sometimes it shoots out multiple blank papers when printing, and the mechanism that used to remove the printed pages is not working like it should. Print quality, speed, and the software seems to be fine, but other than that I really regret having upgraded. I wouldn't use this updater unless you have one of the newer photosmart printers.

Since installing the 5.5 driver on my machine, my Photosmart 1215 just CRAWLS when printing. Draft mode is out of the question - it takes a minute or more to print a single page of text on draft mode. Pathetic. The driver is apparently not able to feed info to the printer fast enough or something. All print modes are like this. I was running 10.2.6, and now 10.2.8 on a DP 1.25GHz G4.

After a long wait, finally, the link directs to a valid file and I happily got my 16Mb large file to install from. I don't really know what this new version is supposed to offer that the old driver has not. Anyways, it seems to work like it should. It's not faster than the old driver ; I can't tell about resources (if it takes more, less or the same).
But here's one weird thing. If I try to install this new version on the latest Panther Beta (7B74) all apps quit before they start to print somethingâ?¦ I took the 'old' 2.0.5 driver andâ?¦ it worked. Is it possible that HP does not get the Panther Betas ? And if they do, is it necessary to release a driver that will be outdated in 3 or 4 months ?
Please understand what I am saying here : I am not complaining ; Panther 7B74 shoud not be used as the main system ; HP does not mention that the new driver is supposed to be Panther compatible. I'm just wondering if they should not concentrate on releasing BETTER software rather than NEW softwareâ?¦
Regards.

... Christ, can't they even produce an installer that works! Do they not even think 'ooh, shall we check to see if it works properly/at all'?
Come on HP guys, let's have a bit of professionalism...
